The Reel Queer Film Series at Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center presents a free screening of Women He's Undressed on February 22 at 7pm.
Women He's Undressed is the extraordinary story of Australia’s Orry-Kelly, the gay Hollywood designer whose costumes created some of the most magical moments in cinema history.
Orry-Kelly was a Hollywood legend, his costume designs adored by cinema’s greatest leading roles. During the boom years of Hollywood he was costume designer on an astonishing 282 motion pictures. Orry-Kelly designed for the stars like Marilyn Monroe, Bette Davis, Humphrey Bogart, Rosalind Russell, Errol Flynn and more in films like Some Like It Hot, Casablanca, An American in Parisand Now, Voyager.
Orry-Kelly was as big a legend behind the scenes as the on-screen legends he adoringly dressed. Talented, daring, brash, bold, the toast of Hollywood yet the thorn in the side of many a studio head and the first Australian to win three Academy Awards.
A talkback led by Broadway makeup designer Joe Dulude II will follow the film screening. Dulude has worked as makeup designer on 16 Broadway shows including Wicked, If/Then, Allegience, Sunday in the Park With George, and most recently, Spongebob Squarepants The Broadway Musical.
This is a sober social event. No alcohol will be served.
Flawless Angels Cleaners will be on site with their winter plant sale to benefit Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center.
The Reel Queer Film Series is supported with a grant from Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.
