Empowering Anger! Queer Heroes & Icons Throughout History & Art Show Reception of New Paintings by Liz Bradbury
Sit back, prepare to laugh, view slides, listen, learn about and discuss the lives and work of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer artists, and other key figures in history. Consider the LGBTQ imagery of mainstream artists in various eras. And after the class there is also a social opportunity with themed snacks, to discuss interesting things with old friends, or meet new ones - in these exciting free classes at the LGBT Community Center.
This is a very popular class attended by a diverse and intergenerational group of about 40+ LGBTQA folks per class. It’s fun and funny - a good place to bring old friends, or meet new friends, or bring someone on a really nice (and FREE) first date!
Doors Open at 5:30, Class begins at 6:00 p.m.
The reception for Liz Bradbury’s show of new paintings will include a brief, fun, slide presentation with vignettes about the famous LGBTQ+ heroes and icons who inspired Bradbury’s work by converting their own anger, anxiety, and apprehension to advocacy, activism, and art. You will learn about heroes and icons you didn’t even know were LGBTQ+ and will celebrate those heroes you already hold dear! This evening, like all the other Queer Art (and) History classes, will feature delicious snacks by Trish Sullivan!
This series of events will be hybrid. For the Zoom link or any questions related to this event, please contact [email protected]
