Help the Greater Lehigh Valley Realtors Diversity & Community Involvement Committee raise money for the LGBT Youth Program of the Lehigh Valley!
Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center's youth program - Project SILK Lehigh Valley - is a combined healthy eating and physical activity promotion program tailored to the needs and interests of the participants, who are largely low-income LGBT youth living in urban environments.
The Healthy Eating and Active Living initiative of Project SILK is the first LGBT youth-focused diabetes and obesity prevention program in the country. Project SILK combines weekly healthy cooking demonstrations, recreational activities, and healthy living discussions in addition to other key supports that surround LGBT adolescents with the health and social services they need to thrive.
Project SILK creates a social network of LGBT youth and young adults who support one another in adopting healthier lifestyles. Through relationship-building with others who care about them, participants increase commitment to practices in self-care, from healthy eating to regular exercise and more.
Each week, the youth of Project SILK cook together to learn strategies to prepare healthy food and even take meals home with them.
Donations collected through the Greater Lehigh Valley Realtors fundraising page will help Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center provide the local farm-fresh food ingredients and supplies for the youth. We thank you for your support of such a critical program.
To pay via check, please make payable to "Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center" and mail to:
