In response to the attack at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Liz Bradbury stated “The artist in me also needed to do something.” She created a series of photographs dedicated to the victims in Orlando.
Join Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center for an artist reception & talk on August 17 from 7-9pm.
Artist statement:
"Orlando - Three days after it happened, I knew the activist in me would continue to post information and updates, and would go on to work for an end to gun violence, an end to discrimination, to hate, to intolerance. But the artist in me also needed to do something, so over the next 25 days, while I was on Amelia Island, in Florida, I committed to rise each day long before dawn, walk 7 miles on the beach and while walking, take and post on Facebook 49 photos of the sunrise. Each photo, that may bring hope and would at least show us beauty in the world, was dedicated to a victim of the massacre, with that person's name... because names are important to help us remember."
100% of net proceeds from art sales during this exhibit will be donated to LGBT community centers in Allentown and Orlando.
