Queer Intimacy

On Friday, November 15, stop by the Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center for the reception of Charlie Mesure's (they/he) authentic and transformative collection of intimate expressions of trans bodies.
This exhibit will be on display in the Queer Galleries, Tuesday through Friday, 10am - 6pm, from November 5 through December 19.
Please note: This exhibit contains adult themes including nudity and BDSM elements.
Artist's statement: For as long as I can remember I never felt present in my body. I didn’t have the language I do now to describe what I was feeling, but what I did have was my camera. I came to love and appreciate my pretransition body by using it as a tool to create art. I gained a sense of self-worth I wanted to share. The subjects in these pieces had total creative control on how they wanted to dress and express themselves. Some chose traditional boudoir, while others went with something more specific. I hope this collection inspires you to embrace what makes you feel present, no matter what your body looks like. You’re beautiful to me, and I’m happy you’re here.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Charlie Mesure is a transmasc artist fascinated with how we can use fiction–especially horror–to explore identity. When he’s not doing a photoshoot or participating in the local comedy scene, you can find him taking on a massive crochet project or watching low budget slashers from the 80s.
