Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center presents our 2020 LGBT Spirituality Mini-Series on January 6 and 13, 2020. The 2020 mini-series focuses on spiritual inclusion for trans people in faith communities. The mini-series is designed to be a living room conversation, where our featured guests will discuss trans inclusion in faith communities with mini-series moderator, Rev. Beth Goudy, pastor of Metropolitan Community Church of the Lehigh Valley.
On January 6th, we will host Dr. Joy Ladin, Professor of English at Yeshiva University and author of The Soul of the Stranger: Reading God and Torah from a Transgender Perspective. Dr. Ladin is also author of nine books of poetry and a memoir. She is the first openly transgender professor at an Orthodox Jewish institution.
On January 13th, we will host Austen Hartke, creator of the Transgender and Christian YouTube channel and author of Transforming: the Bible and the Lives of Transgender Christians. Austen is a graduate of Luther Seminary’s Master of Arts program in Old Testament/Hebrew Bible Studies, and is the winner of the 2014 John Milton Prize in Old Testament Writing from the same institution.
Each event will conclude with a book signing and dessert reception with our featured guests.
The 2020 LGBT Spirituality Mini-Series is hosted by The Library and Renaissance Lehigh Valley - two programs at Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center. The series is presented thanks to the generosity of an anonymous individual donor and a grant from the E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Foundation.
This is a sober social event, no alcohol will be served.
