Valerie Weisler Fundraising Campaign

As you know, I'm passionate about LGBT inclusivity in education and literature. As a young person in the LGBT community, I was never represented in the books read by librarians or available to check out at school. That's why I feel so blessed to be working as a Library intern at Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center this semester (thanks to funding from the Point Foundation and the Elton John AIDS Foundation.)

As one of the main projects for my internship, I wanted to be sure that young LGBT people like me always have access to information and literature that tells the sometimes forgotten stories of people living with HIV, those who died, and the stories of the AIDS activists who changed the world. So for my project, I'm expanding the library materials the center has related to HIV literature. I've identified library materials the center needs and I'm working to raise the funds to purchase these materials!

I hope that by the end of my internship, the Library at Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center will be well-resourced with new HIV-related library materials. And I'm asking for your help!

Donations are tax-deductible, but that's not why you should give. I hope you'll give to this important project because you agree with me that the history of HIV in America should never be erased and that libraries like the fabulous one at Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center can play a significant role in telling these stories.
