Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center presents Outside the Wildtype and Other Stories From a Genderqueer Scientist, an evening of performance art, gender-bending and storytelling with Cristopher Alvaro. The event is free to attend.
Cristopher Alvaro is a neuroscientist, writer, solo performer and drag artist. Cristopher received their Ph.D. in Molecular and Cell Biology from University of California – Berkeley and now is a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of California – San Francisco studying the molecular mechanism underlying pain and itch transmission. Cristopher has written and created three solo shows as a part of Solo Performance Workshop in San Francisco, including their show, Outside the Wildtype, which explores the difficulties of gender expression within and beyond academia. Cristopher also performs drag regularly in Oakland, CA under the alias of Aequorea Victoria. Through drag they are interested in blurring the lines between character and self, vulnerability and strength, and the real and surreal.
Appetizers will be provided from Centro.
This event is a sober social event at Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center. No alcohol will be served.
